3 Tips for Planning Your Bridal Boudoir Session | Northern Virginia Boudoir Photography Studio
Bridal boudoir has become such a staple of my boudoir repertoire. I found that providing this service for brides is a welcome chance to design a folio that is just as much for the little Mrs. as it is for the Groom.
Read on as we showcase a bridal boudoir session with Miss N and I share a few tips with you about planning your own bridal boudoir session...
#1 | Play up Accessories that Might Otherwise be Overlooked on Your Wedding Day
Whether it's the bridal veil or the garter, this is a perfect opportunity to showcase the items you so painstakingly selected for your big day. Here are just some suggestions for accessories your bridal boudoir session...
veil (we have an extra at the studio in case you don't want to bring yours.)
wedding shoes
garter
gown, showing the bride in varying states of undress is perfect for her husband-to-be
bridal jewelry, including a freshly-cleaned engagement ring
bridal lingerie - check out Belle Mode Intimates of Fairfax Corner for an impeccable selection
something blue
something that is distinct to him - an old t-shirt from his favorite sports team, a neck tie, colors that he loves to see you wear
an invitation or save-the-date
his cufflinks - a great idea if these would be given in tandem with the album
#2 | Use This Session as a Trial for Makeup & Hair for the Big Day
At our studio we work with only DC's finest and professional stylists, but many of them also work as freelance artists for television and for, you guessed it, your big wedding day! Since boudoir sessions are typically booked well in advance of the wedding, you can utilize the session to test drive your look for the big day. Or it can be an opportunity for you to step out of your normal day-to-day and go for glamorous look that you might not choose for your wedding day. (think: extensions, heavier smokey eye)
#3 | Doing a Session with Us Will Only Make You Look Better on Your Wedding Day
I know, you're thinking... Huh?! How is posing in lingerie going to make my wedding day photos better?!
The truth is it absolutely will.
Since we are specialists trained in the art of posing women's bodies and coaching for expression, you are going to walk away from a session with us remembering some of the posing tips we gave you (that felt awkward but looked amazing) and use those when posing for your bridal portraits. You will hear "chin forward and down" a lot during a session with us and it will be used in future selfies until the end of time, or "connect the shoulder to the chin" and "elongate the neck." All these things will undoubtedly give you better portraits when you finally say, "I do."
